Amity University Rajasthan in association with M/s Spic Macay organized a Concert on Shehnai Vadan by Sh. Sanjeev Shankar and Sh. Ashwani Shankar, Grand Sons of Legendary Shehnai Player Pandit Anant Lal on March 11, 2011.
Vice Chancellor of Amity University Rajasthan said that Amity University Rajasthan has always emphasized on Indian Ethos, Sanskars and sensitized its students to Indian Culture and Heritage. He also said that Shehnai is played to celebrate happiness and auspicious occasions. Today’s performance will take the message to the youth at large towards the preservation of rich Indian culture and it will understand the essence of happiness and celebration.
Sh. Ashwani Shankar played Madhuvanti Raga and Raga Kafi. He said that Shehnai is symbol of happiness which is played in temples, mosques during auspicious occasions. He also focused on the emergence of Shehnai which was earlier played as folk tunes but Bismillah Khan Sahib made it a classical instrument.
Amity University Rajasthan in association with Development Research Centre U.S.A organized a 2 day workshop
Amity School of Communication –Amity University Rajasthan as part of its International Conference on Media inaugurated the two day workshop on “Securely Exchanging Information through Technology” on 2 March 2011 in association with DRC. USA. Mr. Derek Schatz an internationally acclaimed information security expert and technical leader with over fifteen years of experience in technical, operational, and managerial aspects of information security and privacy was the trainer for the workshop.
Mr. Derek Schatz thanked Amity University Rajasthan for co-hosting this workshop with DRC and appreciates the interest of the participants in learning about cyber security.
Vice Chancellor Amity University Rajasthan, Prof. Dr. Raj Singh said looking at the online threats today we really need to be equipped with strong defending skills, thus this workshop will really help the participants in exchanging information more securely.
The workshop provided explanation and solutions for threats faced in using information and communication technology for advocacy work. Around 25 delegates including Independent journalists, Bloggers, Human Rights groups and Non-profit managers from across India and abroad participated in the workshop.
Following the workshop Amity School of Communication is organised a first ever International Conference in India on “Changing Paradigms of Media Landscape in the Digital age: Issue and Perspectives (with special reference to rise of Social Media)”on 4th-5th March.

Amity school of Communication, Amity University Rajasthan organized its first international conference on Changing Paradigms of Media Landscape In the digital Age on 4th and 5th of March 2011. Shri Ashok Bairwa Minister Information Broadcasting and Public Relations inaugurated the 2 day conference and Vice Chancellor Makhanlal Chaturvedi University Mr. B.K. Kuthiala was the guest of honor of the ceremony. Objective of the conference was to explore and understand the impact of digital technology on our traditional media and find out how these technologies are enabling the media professionals around the world in their respective areas. The focus of this international conference was on the usage of digital technology in mass media and its impact on our society.
The conference started with a plenary session where eminent media personalities like Ujjwal choudhary, Parikshit Luthra participated followed by technical sessions covering issues like Media in Globalizing World, Digital Media and Governance, Digital Media for Corporate Social Responsibility. A beautiful cultural evening was organized by the University for all the participants of the conference to introduce them with the culture of colorful Rajasthan.
Richard Peltz Prof. University of Arkansas said that “:it was an enlightening experience to be a part of this conference as it provided me a chance to know about the media practices in Eastern countries and share with them the trends of media in the west
Day 2 started with the second plenary session where Mr. Anwar Jamal, Ms. Swati Vashistha, Mr. Alok Joshi participated and in following 5 more technical session were also organized where personalities from USA, Canada, UAE and from all over India presented their research papers. Prof Bradley Clary from Mount Royal University, Canada expressed that “coming all the way to India and participating in the conference was a wonderful experience as I came to know about new trends in social media all over the world and the challenges which industry needs to think about.”
The conference was an opportunity for research scholars and students to share views and interact with eminent professionals from Media Industry and Academicians.
Prof. Raj Singh Vice Chancellor A.U.R thanked all the participants from different walks of life who participated in the conference for enlightening students with their knowledge and experience.

Aryan joins Amity School of communication (ASCO):
In the early childhood Aryan always dreamt of being Air Force pilot, later after knowing himself he decided to be an engineer (aeronautic). Karna jo b hai but must deals with flying and aircrafts. Aryan ne’er knew that his urge to write will land him in press (being a journalist) one day. Aryan used to write regularly for the various periodicals both local and national. The write ups were so frequent that his acquaintances got a belief Aryan may be working for the organizations but the truth was Aryan was hardly interested in earning from writing rather media. Aryan used to write everything poems, essays, stories lymric etc but today he is focused only on the serious issues. Time passed and Aryan became a well known writer of the valley and the youngest member of the ‘young writers association of India’. It was then when he realized that being an engineer or a pilot is not Aryan’s cup of tea but journalism is. As such he decided to do mass communication after his intermediate (12th) but unfortunately, there was no college which could offer bachelors degree in Journalism and mass communication in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir State. So he decided to move out. But again there was a big snag for Aryan as all the renowned colleges of mass communication and journalism were done with their admission process. Annoyed Aryan with lackadaisical attitude searched Google for the last ray of hope. Oh! My God! To his surprise Amity School of Communication Rajasthan was waiting for him. At this Aryan remembered the famous saying that if one door is closed seven others open. …and finally the day came and Aryan was selected to be the part of ASCO as the student of journalism. That was really a proud moment for him; not because he has joined Amity but he was near to cherish his dreams. Though sometimes Aryan’s associate always taunted him for not sitting in any of the competitive exams but hats-off to his parents who always supported him by all means. May almighty bless them! Now Aryan is Amitian as well as ASCOite and of course journalist.

Really a difficult question to answer but from the media point of view , those journalists who give up there everything for a cause and die working on it but in the context of Aryan it refers to his friends his classmates, a mere group of 13 people rather students along with their faculty, who brought change in their department. In the beginning every hard tym journo considered him self to be the superior and the better than the rest but it is always said time is the best medicine and teacher. We all soon realized ‘together we can’ and hence hard tym journalists rocked. All our dreams stormed and resulted in the development of our esteemed department. From scratch to everything hard time journalists have seen everything. A new development in our department meant a party time for us all. It’s not wrong if I say hum nay badalte ASCO ko dekha hai… It is pertinent to mention here that when hard tym journos joined Amity University Rajasthan only a few people knew about the Amity School of Communication (ASCO) but today every one knows and respects it. ASCO Rajasthan was the first to organize a media fest in Rajasthan and also the first to organize the International Media Conference in the whole country. It will real injustice if I did not name the members of the group rather juggler vain of ASCO called ‘Hard Tym Journos’

As the part of curriculum the students of the amity school of communication went on the media trip to cover the ‘maru mahotsav- desert festival’ to Jaisalmer. This trip was full of adventures and knowledge. Aryan and his friends came to know a lot about each other, about their faculties and also about the place. Aryan considers those days as the best days of his life at amity. Though there were some controversies and trifles but kabhi kabhi who be accha hi hota hai kyun ki daag acche hai na… I must tell you this trip was also the first from the Amity University Rajasthan. First first First ASCO is the BEST!!! We all enjoyed a lot and what else should I share with you kuch baatein parde ke peeche hi achi lagti hai… In the next bulletin you will get to know more about the adventures in Jaisalmer and that too in detail.

Hello Blog. Hello people-who-are-actually-reading this Blog. You guys are AWESOME!
Thanks for being such a wonderful reader.
I have just awakened. Previous semester really passed by quick. And I could not post anything from long. When finally I am doing it, it’s just to hold our memories and say GOOD BYE. Yes, this is going to be my last contribution to Amity’s Blog.
It's less than 3 months to May 2011, so close to graduating:-).
I really don't know where all the days and weeks went. Mostly work, study, watch movies, hang outs, and a major time in lafdas and velapanti.
I donno why, but this morning, as I was trying to fall asleep, I started thinking of random happenings. [(And I can function on very little sleep!)]
I have no idea what triggered that train of mind and I am writing here again and for the last time. Ah… well I am here now, documenting some random quirky brainwave activity down.
So here are some random idiosyncratic feelings and happenings about the guy whose column you are reading…. Eerrrnnn….Sazzy says n Eerrr it goes…
- I never planned to study Mass Comm.
Accidents are good sometimes. How the wheel drove me topsy-turvy and in no time at all I was thrown several time zones away from a normal scheduled life. Well that’s how I was constrained, constrained by the state of affairs to study Mass Comm.
Now after 3 years of study I have realized that this is really the best of whatever I would have ever done in my existence. I am proud to be a Mass Comm. graduate now.
But I guess life is a roller coaster ride that always throws surprises at you. I am happy now though - now I can't imagine doing anything else, okay maybe I still harbor those rock star fantasies!
P.S – But No… never the above justification ever means that any halat ka mara or vela can opt for Mass Comm. You need to have something different.
- The Hostel Life
One cannot afford to complete his/her graduation without experiencing a hostel life of at least one year, & if any one does that, believe me you lost a pretty important phase of your Graduation and I call you a big time Looooserrr..!
My hostel life was AWESOME. Haunting in every ones room late at the night and asking – “bhai kuch khane ko hai kya?”, loping out of the hostel after the warden has slept, B’day Celebrations, and much much more. Well on a serious note, I will say – hostel teaches you to live and lead.
P.S. - And for me, my hostel’s WashrooM was the finest place ever. I built up all my creativity & even did some graffiti out there. Whenever I was tensed or wanted to think over a project I would silently go there and meditate for some time.
If I scored good marks in practicals, the credit goes to my beautiful washroom.
- The Coolest Hangout ever
– Friends gonna kill me, if I tag their name and am scared.
It was spring I guess, when I along with my 3 friends loped out of hostel. These 3 were my roommate and friends. I never had such a freaking night, actually I was not at all meant to do that, was never so strong to spend ‘a night in an underdeveloped park, totally wet in the rain and without clothes on my body’. Yes that’s what you read, please don’t read it again.
Actually I would like to make a correction; we had a piece of cloth over each one of us. One of our friend’s home was just 200m away & we could not go there. Actually we found it better to expose ourselves in cold (after the rain) rather getting scolded at home.
P.S. - It’s freaking me out or else I would have loved to mention their names.
There are many more such creepy incidents * like I & Rajpal once went to sawai madhopur in auto(130 Km. approx).
I was never made to travel in such horrible but wonderful situation.
We also went on late night drives and much much more. These moments rest in the most precious corner of my heart.
And once I or 'we'(yes, again the same group of friends) got in general compartment of Indian railways, later landed on the bus roof; finally along with my trainers (yes that’s what I prefer to call them) just on a fun trip to Udaipur and Jodhpur. Go on a trip with them and trust me they will make you totally fit and an ideal contestant for ROADIES.
I was never made to travel in such horrible but wonderful situation.
We also went on late night drives and much much more. These moments rest in the most precious corner of my heart.
- Building Relationships
It’s not just a topic in my Communication Skills syllabi; it’s the most important affair in my Graduation.
I made myself pretty flexible, oops don’t mislead me. I made some really good friends or gems I would call them. Some from other streams, some seniors and a few of juniors. And above all I too had an experience of love and that was incredible. Well, one should experience all of these in a life time.
Ultimately, life is all about people and relationships not work.
When am talking about relations how can I forget my Teachers – you all are the best teachers, I owe you a lot. You have brought the real Sukesh out of me. I wish if I could tag a few names to express my gratitude for all the loving people whom I met in past 3 years. And also I want to tag a few REGULAR readers (you guys are very loving >:D<) of our Blog and my Column. :-)

This became my only refuge for some time in past. It’s our creation and my heart beats here. From just two (Me and Aryan) to a well defined group. I have seen it growing. And I love it like anything.
Just wish that it keeps spreading it wings. For my Juniors it’s a request and an order – love it the way we did. Preserve it and make it the better than the best even made...

I won’t cry out and say that it’s gonna be the most emotional moment of my Graduation, oh my friends I WILL MISS YOU…. No, am not saying it at all….
Actually MY or to be more appropriate, OUR farewell is still due. I just have an intuition that it’s going to be loving…very loving. I got a load of expectations from my juniors. ;-)
- Future plans – Career
Now jumping on a serious topic, Fun and all loving memories go vague when you don’t end up well. I mean when you don’t establish well.
This is the most crucial moment of my life and I guess it’s the same for my friends. Deciding the best for oneself sometimes becomes very difficult.
Parents, personal interests, friends and a few more factors which affect an individual in a descending order.
I am totally mystified, tensed and quite screwed.
Mystified thinking weather I should go for higher studies now or later, tensed thinking of PLACEMENTS and screwed of the pressure around.
All is well that ends well. And that will happen for sure. :-)
There are many more happenings and a bunch of feelings even & the lines would fall short to express my Randomaties.
Perhaps the idea of graduating for good has grown stronger and deeper as I realized that I have been devoting more time to work.
Well, I am in search of my refuge; wish you also find yours soon.
