SHEHNAI VADAN BY SH. SANJEEV SHANKAR

Amity University Rajasthan in association with M/s Spic Macay organized a Concert on Shehnai Vadan by Sh. Sanjeev Shankar and Sh. Ashwani Shankar, Grand Sons of Legendary Shehnai Player Pandit Anant Lal on March 11, 2011.

Vice Chancellor of Amity University Rajasthan said that Amity University Rajasthan has always emphasized on Indian Ethos, Sanskars and sensitized its students to Indian Culture and Heritage. He also said that Shehnai is played to celebrate happiness and auspicious occasions. Today’s performance will take the message to the youth at large towards the preservation of rich Indian culture and it will understand the essence of happiness and celebration.

Sh. Ashwani Shankar played Madhuvanti Raga and Raga Kafi. He said that Shehnai is symbol of happiness which is played in temples, mosques during auspicious occasions. He also focused on the emergence of Shehnai which was earlier played as folk tunes but Bismillah Khan Sahib made it a classical instrument.
