ASCo’s Day out!!

Jaipur, August 31: In continuation with the amity industrial interaction series the students of Amity School of Communication had a visit to the office of the daily Hindi newspaper ‘Danik Bhaskar’. Students visited the Editorial and the Printing Department-the two most important Departments of a newspaper organisation,which have been rightly called as the “ Heart and Soul “of a newspaper.

The fresh students of ASCo had their maiden day out with the seniors and the faculty members to the office of ‘Danik Bhaskar’ today on Monday to gain some livewire experience of the field of journalism. During the visit students were exposed to the role and ethics of a journalist. The students were also made to understand the work of Newspaper Editorial department with special focus on editing and reporting. The senior journalists of the daily bhaskar took interactive sessions with the students and advised them to be journos in true spirits of the profession. While answering to a question, the editor of danik bhaskar said, “No doubt the work of a journalist is thankless but they have to take uttermost precautions while filing a story as their story can lead to many unexpected and long-ranging consequences, sometimes positive and at times negative as well”. He further said, “It is the duty of the editor to verify the news before publishing and the same law is also applicable to the reporter before filing a story to an editor”.

Students were made acquainted with the multi-dimensional role of media from the visit. While talking to The Amity Times, Suraj Singh, a second year student of Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication said, “Such visits provide us enormous information about the practicalities of this exciting, demanding and yet challenging profession. It made us feel important as to how “We”, the aspiring journalists can carve a niche in the field of journalism”.

The students visit to the printing press was a worth memorable one for them. Giving details about the working of the printing press the manager of the press said, “This is the best printing setup in the whole of Rajasthan. This multi storeyed printing machine has been acquired from Germany at the cost of 1.50 hundred crore approximately. It can print nearly 23 pages in a second while 85,000 copies can be printed in an hour”. The budding journalists from Amity explored the minute details of the printing process. While commenting on the excellent precision and quality of the printing press, Shubham Mishra, a second year student of Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication said, “It was really a pleasure for me to see the printing process so closely. Though we had studied about the process in our course,but personally experiencing things make a lot of difference”. Final year student of Journalism, Asif Khan said, “It gives me great pleasure to watch and explore the extreme hard efforts and efficiency of some of the highly professional personnel behind the making of a successful morning newspaper. He further added, “Journalism is also called the fourth estate and now I feel proud to be a part of such profession which is flourishing like anything and helping out the society in innumerable ways. This wonderful visit to ‘Danik Bhaskar’” has given me such unforgettable and enlightening experiences, which I would always like to nurture and cherish throughout my life”.
