TALK ON ROLE OF NEW MEDIA IN 21ST CENTURY

Jaipur, September 6: In the ongoing Amity industrial interactive series, Amity University Rajasthan organized a talk on the “The role of new media in the 21st century” here on Thursday. The event was graced by a delegation from US Embassy, which includes Ms. Lisa Swenarski, Public diplomacy officer and editor-in-chief, SPAN and Ms. M. Koening Sadarangani, Political Officer.

Speaking on the proposed topic, Ms. Lisa Swernarski editor-in-chief, US Embassy’s Journal ‘SPAN’ said, “Today world is the world wholly and solely governed by media. In the past we have to use messengers or pigeons to transmit our message but now everything has changed. Pigeons are replaced by Internet and mobiles while messengers by newspapers and television.”. While commenting about the new trends in media she said, “In today’s word every channel is offers shows for everyone. Media has now become opinion builder in the society”.

“Today one billion people around the world get online daily. A person from remote village of west Bengal travels nearly 40 minutes from his place just to check his email, as his village has got no electricity.”, she further added. While interacting with the students of Amity University Rajasthan, the members of delegation from the American Embassy also shared their experiences and solved queries. They also enlightened students with the various perspectives of higher education and scholarships available in US. At the end of the session Dr. R. S. Sirohi, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Rajasthan presented mementos to the guests as a token of love and remembrance. Vote of thanks was proposed by Brig. V. K. Pande, Registrar, AUR.
