Sangathan 2010 - Day 1

Fresh from a bout of rainfall, Sanghatan’10 started off vibrantly on a bright-cum-athletic day, with a patriotic dance on India’s national song, Vande Mataram. With this spirit of patriotism, Registrar-AUR, Mr.V.K.Pande addressed the gathering with a welcome speech, and invited the events’ chief guest, Prof. Raj Singh (Vice-Chancellor, AUR) to declare the sports meet open. The vice chancellor hoisted the Indian national flag amidst the patriotic tunes of the national anthem. Displaying unity and regulation were students from six streams of Amity, steadily marching past the spectators, faculty and the jury members.

Following this, the oath ceremony took place wherein the captains from each team along with the university captain pledged to abide by the main motive of Sangathan that is; brotherhood, leadership and teamwork. Prof. Raj Singh then addressed the crowd impressing upon the benefits of sports and the zeal to be involved in it. He was delighted to state that amity has grown along with time and that its glory has not been achieved overnight, rather it involves a decade of hard work and dedication. Conveying the best wishes of AUR’s Hon’ble Chancellor, Mr. Aseem Chauhan to the participants, the vice chancellor also expressed the chancellor’s desire to be present at this event. Concluding the inaugural session, the event proceeded with athletics commencing with the 100mtr Racing, which is scheduled to be followed by Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Badminton and Hockey. It is sought to look forward to enthusiasm and sportsman ship spirit by the students participating in the Sangathan.
